World Missions
While seeking God for His vision for this ministry, God gave Pastor Hopkins the purpose statement. Within the purpose statement God revealed His plan for this ministries' part in world mission, what the bible calls the “Great Commission.” As the vision unfolded and the ministry grew; mission and evangelism became the main driving force and focus of the ministry.
In 2005 God began to bring parts of the vision He placed within our Pastor's heart into reality. That same year we established our first daughter church, Victory Temple Ministries International, in Kumasi Ghana , Africa . We support the resident pastor
Pastor Hopkins also visited the Offin Children's Center Orphanage outside of Kumasi Ghana , with 260 children ranging in ages from 5-17, in 2005. An immediate need for a water pump, poly storage tank and bedding was expressed to Pastor Hopkins. Upon his return to the United States , he relayed the needs to the members of Victory Temple Ministries. They responded quickly raising the finances to provide the materials for the pump and bedding.
New Direction Community Church is a campus location of Victory Temple Ministries in Portland , Oregon . Through this Vancouver campus location we seek to continue the world mission vision, combining our efforts to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Local Missions
New Direction Community Church is an extension of the love and compassion of Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:37-40). Through this ministry we distribute personal health care necessities, warm clothing and coats to the homeless and less fortunate of downtown Portland .
The bible teaches that we must tithe our first fruit to the Lord (2 Chronicles 31:6-5). The members of N.D.C.C. not only tithe our finances, but we tithe food, clothing, and our time. Every Saturday we distribute the “tithed” clothing and personal necessities collected along with hot coffee, breakfast pastries, juice, homemade hot soup and sack lunches to the homeless who are living on the streets of Portland . We call it “Feeding Jesus.”
After distributing the natural needs and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, we extend an invitation to fellowship with us during our Sunday morning worship service. Our van ministry provides transportation to N.D.C.C., where the homeless and less fortunate can worship in a non-judgmental environment, allowing them to establish relationships with other believers and provide an opportunity for a life changing experience of accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Through this ministry we have seen many people give their lives to the Lord and their situation have changed dramatically. Jesus said in Luke 4:18 that He came “to preach the gospel to the poor.” We at New Direction Community Church are excited to follow in the ministry of Jesus Christ, doing the will of the Father and seeing lives changed. We invite you to come and be a part of this exciting ministry. All are welcome!
